COVID 19 UPDATE: What Regency Dental is doing!
We hope this message finds everyone safe and well, and coping as best we can during this trying time.
We'd like to start using our web pages to update patients on what we are doing during the Lockdown and the plans we have for when we are able to open to continue taking care of you once again.
As you are aware under the instruction of Public Health England (PHE) we have been advised to cease providing all face to face dental treatment for the time being.
This is due to the theoretical risk of airborne transmission of the virus from what are called "aerosol generating procedures"(AGPs). In other words every time we use an air spray, a drill or an ultrasonic scaler.
We have lived with these, and similar, risks for many years, and from many viruses, such as HIV, Hepatitis, TB and other dangerous pathogens, and our stringent, and robust, cross infection procedures have always protected you, the patient, and then us, the Team, who provide your day to day treatment.
We are here and on hand, however to be able to give you help and advice for any dental emergency by telephone and in severe emergencies, to be able to refer you to a local Urgent Dental Care centre who can provide limited emergency treatment.
Public Health England and NHS England have produced standard operating procedures outlining the use of enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE) to enable us to commence providing treatment once the Lockdown has been lifted.
This will mean significant and substantial changes to the way the Practice runs, how we see you and what we will wear whilst we are seeing you.
Huw has undertaken further training in using and fitting PPE which all the clinical staff will start to wear.
We have ordered further stocks of PPE including masks, gowns and hats and we have undertaken alterations at the Practice to help protect you and the Team.
Please follow this blog where we will endeavour to update you as to what is happening and how we will return to take care of you.
Stay safe, stay healthy and we are here if you need us!
